Long Beach Island is fortunate to be host to a wide array of events and activities throughout the year. These events are designed to engage the public in the wonderful culture of Long Beach Island and enjoy the LBI lifestyle. Perhaps the best known event on Long Beach Island, Chowderfest is an annual soup cook off contest and the unofficial end to the LBI season.
This community event is presented by forward-thinking leaders in the Long Beach Island, NJ, Jetty and Spice It Up The focus is to bring a new demographic to LBI by breeding culture, and bolstering the local economy during a gorgeous but traditionally slow time of year. In 2014, we held the first Hop Sauce. While we were hoping for a turnout around 1,500, a crowd of 3,000 happy festival goers came through the gates. We’ve continued to grow since then.
A new fall event on LBI, the kite festival features a number of impressive kites. It is really an amazing thing to see the size and detail of some of the professional fliers who travel the world!
Long Beach Island is host to a number of local fishing tournaments with great cash prizes! It is best to check with a local bait and tackle shop to see what is currently going on.
Santa comes to LBI! Every December Ship Bottom holds a wonderful Christmas parade with a wide array of floats, bands, entertainment of course the man in the big red suit!
